What do you have?

Acts 3:1-6

Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon to take part in the three o'clock prayer service. As they approached the Temple, a man lame from birth was being carried in. Each day he was put beside the Temple gate, the one called the Beautiful Gate, so he could beg from the people going into the Temple. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for some money.
Peter and John looked at him intently, and Peter said, "Look at us!" The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting a gift. But Peter said, "I don't have any money for you. But I'll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!" (NLT)

Thoughts...

  • People with needs will often ask you for something.
  • They usually ask you for what they think you have, that they think they need.
  • Sometimes you don't have what they are asking for.
  • Sometimes you have what they really need, but they don't ask you for it.
  • Don't be embarrassed about what you don't have. Give them what you do have.
  • Sometimes you need to give people what they really need, not what they ask for.

I agree totally with your thoughts the last one, giving people what they need not what they ask for. Sometimes a hand up is better than a handout, like what Peter and John gave

Sometimes you don't have what they are asking for. I think this is hardest to accept. It's wisdom to know when you don't know. Ya know? I am Megster/Esher and I approve this blog, lol
